As our round-up of 2016’s jobs announcements comes to a close, we learn that it has been an amazing 12 months for Irish jobs.
This week has seen us totting up the number of jobs announced across the island of Ireland during 2016 and, at last, we have our final figure: an impressive 20, 160, or 55 Irish jobs every single day.
But, of course, it’s not as simple as all that – there were other announcements that were not quite so easy to apportion to any particular county or province.
Orientierung Cypress Mountain
In September, professional services firm KPMG announced plans to create 200 new jobs over the following 12 months, and to recruit 300 graduates.
Earlier this year, Sigmar Recruitment announced plans for a major drive to up its staff count, adding 150 to its 120-strong team by the end of 2018.
Irish life sciences and data analytics start-up Genomics Medicine Ireland announced plans to create 150 new jobs after securing $40m in Series A funding.

Eir, Ireland’s largest telecoms operator, announced the creation of 100 jobs as part of its continued fibre broadband expansion across the country.
Glanbia’s 2017 graduate programme will see the nutrition group create 50 positions across a multitude of roles, in the fifth year of the initiative.
The Office of the Revenue Commissioners received a major boost as part of Budget 2017, with an investment of €5m to create 50 jobs and overhaul its ICT systems.

Earlier this year, it was announced that some 40 new jobs were to be created by the HSE’s technology arm, eHealth Ireland, as part of the organisation’s digital transformation.
On the back of increasing infrastructural expansion, Vodafone announced a host of new technology jobs that will, when filled, bring the company’s headcount above 2, 000.
